Thanks for the reply, but I'm not sure CBLQDA applies. I could be wrong, but there doesn't seem to be any LE or cobol involved here (at least I see no CEE eyecatchers in any of the vendor's modules). Also, if you mean I should add the FILEAID ddname to my logon proc, that would seem to defeat the purpose of dynamic allocation. I think that should be avoided, no? The dsn is generated on the fly. BTW... I forgot to mention we are zOS 1.13. (but this happened on zOS 1.11 as well) -Jim
