Mark, I don't think the book is saying that.  It says "SRM writes type 99 
record*s* for each policy interval, or approximately once every 10 seconds." 
In the MVS System Management Facilities (SMF) book 
(http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/epubs/pdf/iea2g2c1.pdf) you can find a summary 
of what subtypes are written. And subtype 12-14 are written every 2 sec but 
they are very small as well.
