The GRS ENQ and the RESERVE are alternatives. Never use both! Anciently, under OS/PCP and OS/MFT, the Linkage Editor issued a RESERVE for the DASD volume on which the target PDS for its output load module resided in much the same circumstances. (It could not know in advance how much space it would need.)
