I would expect the timemark packet would have to be within the existing session 
ports. Consider:
- SCANINTERVAL and TIMEMARK are used together to determine if a connection has 
been lost. The connection is identified by a unique pair of ports between the 
client (random port) and server (23).
- The Telnet server can't assume the client is listening on another port, or 
can respond to a ping in this era of firewalls.
