Kees, We don't have CA-DISK in this partition nor do we have FDR. This is a bare bones LPAR. I tried the IDCAMS PRINT and it worked. Thanks for your suggestions and help.

Otherwise: IDCAMS steps with ddnames Fnnn and "PRINT INFILE(Fnnn) COUNT(1)" statements. This reads only 1 record, not the entire file.
