CA-MIM is now working!
I'm not exactly sure how, but the sequence of events was: -
Tuesday
IBM wanted to do some resiliance testing on our FICON infastructure, 'cos it's
new, so we varied offline all our FICON devices, and Configed the CHPids off on
our production systems, so that the ops didn't get panicked (bless 'em)
CA suggested we put the latest maint on - this hadn't been done (I inherited
this remember), so I did that, but with the FICON testing going on, I
restricted myself to trying to get MIICTC printing useful messages, which I
never got.
Wednesday
FICON testing complete, all CHPids configured back on, all FICON devices varied
back on the system.
Discovered I had not installed all the maint, so did that.
Started CA-MIM without the resource serialisation bit switched on ("management
mode") and it came up!
So it was either an issue with the FICON, which was sorted out during vary /
config off / on, or a PTF being applied.
My money is on the FICON!
