With all the stories people are telling about Halon being dumped when it shouldn't be, I haven't heard any stories where the halon dumping actually saved the datacenter. (Well, maybe there have been but I forgot). It almost seems that the cost of the halon system and the gas to fill them with outways the advantages if there are so many dumps and outages caused by the halon system.

Are there any stories out there where the halon saved the datacenter? Obviously, if a datacenter was burned and all equipment and therefore data was lost, that would be very expensive.
