Bob, Then I can tell you that apart from the flattening of IO that I described, there is nothing in the design and architecture of the USP-V that would make a 3390-54 have less performance than 16 or so 3390-3 allocated on the same parity group.
I'm afraid that it is the nature of your IO and not the size of the volume. What are you seeing in the ESS stats for the Parity groups?
