I learned assembler[1] first, but that didn't prevent me from picking
up new languages freely. I don't feel any nostalgia for my first few
languages and would never want to go back to them.

[1] Well, they made us write some short programs in machine
    language[2] first so that we would appreciate SOAP 2 when we
    learned it.

[2] Yes, that was cruelty to children.
