I will agree with you from the Developer's viewpoint. If for no other reason than it gives an explanation which is generally acceptable: "We use the IBM supplied regexp engine. If you need changes, IBM is the proper venue for discussion." Maintaining the regexp code itself is just not cost effective. And, no matter what is decided, somebody will complain. <like me - grin>
