Gerhard said Canada is all screwed up <G>
Just been to Ontario. I had to buy beer at a Beer Store (owned by a few brewers and none in the supermarket) at exorbitant prices, and if I wanted wine or liquor, had to go to the State owned LCBC where prices are about twice what they are in the US. BTW, the UK has not accepted metrication as many would believe it (except the BBC who have an obsession with it). Even youngsters talk about feet and inches. Sorry Big D.... I know, being a Friday is not an excuse.... Then the government hanged nd they (Brian Mulroney's Conservatives) backpedalled on a few things. Mostly t was weights and measures in the supermarket, just so grandma wouldn't get onfused. So while canucks buy gasoline, milk and wine by the litre, meat and eggies are still in pounds. In CFL football, it is still 1st down and 10 YARDS o go. Pilots still deal in altitudes expressed in feet, distances in nautical iles and speeds expressed in knots. Highway speeds and distances are in ilometers (there are signs to warn Yankees that a limit of 100kph is really 60mph). Two by four construction lumber is still the same dimensions (more ike 1.6in by 3.2in). I've been away awhile so I don't know if a beer is 500ml or an imperial pint. aybe Ted knows. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- or IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, end email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO earch the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
