You could do as Rob suggested, and retain the entire JAVA 6.0 filesystem, and 
mount that at a different location, and modify EKM to point to that.   

But, whether we like it or not, eventually, that version of EKM will be 
unsupported.    Not sure you want to jeopardize all of your companies tape data 
on an unsupported piece of software.

I don’t like it any more than any of you that IBM has done this.    I am 
extremely glad however they came up with the -lite version because requiring a 
shop to license DB2 to use it is overkill.....

I'd suggest getting with your IBM sales people and complain, since they are now 
charging for something that was free, and now that you have many encrypted 
tapes, is pretty hard to stop using.

My concern is that we use EKM strictly for TAPE encryption and not DASD.  So I 
am concerned I might have to go with another product that is not low-cost
