You could do as Rob suggested, and retain the entire JAVA 6.0 filesystem, and mount that at a different location, and modify EKM to point to that.
But, whether we like it or not, eventually, that version of EKM will be unsupported. Not sure you want to jeopardize all of your companies tape data on an unsupported piece of software. I don’t like it any more than any of you that IBM has done this. I am extremely glad however they came up with the -lite version because requiring a shop to license DB2 to use it is overkill..... I'd suggest getting with your IBM sales people and complain, since they are now charging for something that was free, and now that you have many encrypted tapes, is pretty hard to stop using. _________________________________________________________________ Dave Jousma Assistant Vice President, Mainframe Services [email protected] 1830 East Paris, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 MD RSCB1G p 616.653.8429 f 616.653.8497 -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Lizette Koehler Sent: Monday, May 02, 2011 1:04 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: ISKLM as a replacement for EKM >It has a cost which I understand is comprised of value units for the >processors on which it operates and the amount of tape and DASD which are >encrypted. >Pricing encryption enablement by storage footprint is even worse than >processor capacity given the explosive data growth we see. My concern is that we use EKM strictly for TAPE encryption and not DASD. So I am concerned I might have to go with another product that is not low-cost Lizette ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html This e-mail transmission contains information that is confidential and may be privileged.
