I am not entirely sure, but I guess that the word 'undocumented' in this 
context probably means not in the 2nd, IARRV-XCTLX, Assembler Services 
Reference volume.
 
Attentive reading of the comments prefixed to IDENTIFY, 'the prolog', plus some 
reading of the IDENTIFY code itself would perhaps help to clarify some of the 
'undocumented' functions it performs. 
 
I have until now refrained from further contributions to this thread, and I now 
regret my original post in which I mentioned this use, which was better left 
'in the decent obscurity of a learned language'.
