This is a short description of a weird issue with two sites. There was a bug in the ASIC programming in the DWDM that calculated the CRC for a block of data. We had a very odd block in an image - a long run of zero-bits, I think - that caused an invalid CRC to be generated. It was a solid error. Every time the block tried to cross the river it got an I/O error.
The fix was a patch to the ASIC code.
