We have a new IBM TS7700. When Logical Volumes are scratched by the Tape Management system (we use CA TLMS), they show on Library commands as Scratch. According to the Fast Ready Category setting the Logical Volumes should “Expire” 1 day after they are set to Scratch. The “Expire” does not happen and is not being reflected on the Physical volumes that contain the scratched and supposedly expired logical volumes.
We have run a COPY EXPORT Reclaim against a Physical volume, but this just moves the Scratched Logical Volumes from one Physical tape to another. The next time a COPY EXPORT is done, the CAPACITY STATE gets updated to EMPTY from FULL, the %ACTIVE DATA gets updated from 100% to 0%, and the number of logical volumes on the physcial volume show 0 instead of more than 0. How do we get the Scratch Logical Volumes to “Expire” automatically and have this information reflected in the physcial volumes housing the logical volumes without having to resort to doing COPY EXPORT Reclaims of the physical volumes? Anyone with a TS7700 in a non grid (DR Vaulting via COPY EXPORT) environment have any comments for us? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
