The International Day of Disappeared is observed every year on 30th August throughout the world.
To commemorate the struggle against Enforced disappearances <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forced_disappearance> in Kashmir <http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=34.5,76.0&spn=3.0,3.0&q=34.5,76.0%20(Kashmir)&t=h>, the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) in solidarity with the victims of the families of Enforced Disappearances appealed to the international community to put pressure on the Indian state <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/States_and_territories_of_India> to stop violence against families and the victims of enforced disappearances. Besides physical violence <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violence> experienced by the people of Kashmir, the Indian state has structurally perpetrated violence against the families of the victims by denying them information about the whereabouts of their loved one. Families and relatives of the victims of enforced disappearances have been struggling for justice from last two decades.
