The changed poltical scenario of India is a matter of grave concern for all
those upholding democratic-secular values. Then new Governement is led by a
party which owes its poltical alleigience to RSS, whose agenda is to impose
Hindu nation on our society. The social groups have have taken this issue
seriously and many a meetings and are in the pipe line to plan for
propagating and upholding the values of Indian Constitution.

In Delhi on 4-5 July an All India convention, the idea of India is being
planned. This convention has succeded in bringing together the social
activists from all over India and the deliberations are going to take up
different facets of campaigns to be undertaken in the times to come.
Prominent activists-scholars have called for this conclave and this should
herald the broadening of and All India platform for solidarity actions for
the struggles for a plural, liberal society where the dignity and rights of
all sections are valued.

In Mumbai in a heartening move different social groups have been meeting
from last couple of months. In a way this is in continuation with the
pre-election meetings. From last few months these meetings have come up
with the idea of a platform, ‘Hum Azadiyon ke Haq mein’, a loose collective
platform of the groups working on diverse issues. This platform has already
formed different sub groups related to many issues and soon this
coordination should lead to campaigns and programs which will stand for the
values of Indian Constituion and the Indian ethos of diversity and
respecting differences.

This issue is carrying the usual mix of reports and events, particularly
the report of two meetings organizaed by CSSS-Institutue of Peace Studies
and Conflict Resolutuion have been presented in full detail as they gie the
insight to the thinking of activists in the presenttimes and their likely
impact on the shape of our struggles.
