Edit

*From the Editor's Desk*

With general elections round the concern of activists to ensure the
preservation of democratic values is being expressed in many meetings to
plan the work for the campaign in the immediate future. These coming
elections are going to be very challenging as Narendra Modi of BJP, part of
RSS combine is doing his utmost to project an image based on lies,
supported by big corporate world and the RSS combine. This is a real threat
to democracy as one knows that he is wedded to the ideology of Hindu Nation
in contrast to the Secular Democratic nation, our goal as per the Indian
Constitution. He has, through a vast network of infiltration in media,
social media and through public meetings, well covered by large media, is
projecting himself as a strong leader, committed to development.

This month there were two major meetings in Delhi, One by JAVAB and other
by PADS. Both the meetings attended by the activists from all over the
country warned us of the dangers of the present trends and resolved that we
will do our utmost to ensure that democratic principles win, the secular
parties, irrespective of their differences come to the fore. Many a steps
in this direction are visualized and the activists have shown their resolve
to carry forward the work at the level of Constituencies to ensure that
secular candidates win.

In this issue we are carrying two interesting interviews. One is by the
ex-follower of Mata Amritanand Mayi, which shows as to what happens in the
web of Ashrams of Mata, scattered all over. These revelations coming on the
back of the case of Asaram Bapu show a different dimension of the currently
popular phenomenon of God Men-Women. Another one by Manoj Mitta on his new
book on Gujarat violence is equally revealing about the truth of Gujarat
and re-emphasizes the fact that popular opinion about this carnage is far
removed from the truth.
