Yash Pal <[email protected]> Feb 25 Dear all
Ravish Kumar of NDTV India was successful in highlighting the internal differences within Dalit groups when he conducted the debate on Prime Time programme at 9.00 on 24th Feb regarding the entry of Udit Raj into BJP. The panel of discussion consisted of Prof. Vivek Kumar, Prof. A.K. Verma, Sh. P.L. Punia, chairman, NCSC and Mr. Udit Raj himself. The dialogue between Udit Raj and Prof. Vivek Kumar was a bit acrimonious. Prof. Vivek kumar dubbed the move of Sh. Udit Raj as a betrayal with the ideology. Mr. Udit Raj hit back very strongly against Behan Mayawati's Ambedkarism which is only protection and promotion of the interests of Jatavs. He reminded the viewers about Behan Mayawati's rejection of other leaders like Bangaroo Laxman as Safaiwala (Sweeper) or him (Udit Raj) as Khatik. Clearly Mr. Udit Raj was peeved at non-inclusion of castes other than Jatavs in the BSP fold. I think internal casteism amongst ourselves is the real danger for us and our leadership. We are not ready to come out of our own caste egos. Some dalits from amongst us have not stopped thinking in terms of castes even after conversion to different religions. Their main concern is to somehow show themselves in the public at whatever cost. Their foremost aim is to projection of their self and caste and not the welfare of castes. I don't know how and why they have forgot the ideals and sayings of Baba Saheb. Any movement cannot become successful unless it allows room for diverse views of its proponents. And the proponents of the movement also come under one banner eschewing all personal egos and ambitions. I don't think that Mr. Udit Raj ever tried to join BSP. Rather he tried to create a parallel political force but failed. Instead of joining hands with any dalit political force, he has preferred to work under the upper caste leadership of BJP. There is nothing wrong in the move till he remembers the message of Baba Saheb and, unlike anybody else, does not discriminate one dalit group against the other. Dalit movement has already weakened and it is looking for someone like Baba Saheb, Kanshi Ram who can rise above the narrow mindedness. Dalits should learn lessons from other elite organisations to strengthen themselves. *Yash Pal* *http://groups.google.com/group/css-scst-forum <http://groups.google.com/group/css-scst-forum>.* -- Adv Kamayani Bali Mahabal +919820749204 skype-lawyercumactivist Hey folks, coined this term " Kracktivism ", check out my blog http://kractivist.wordpress.com/Kracktivism Blog for girl child- http://fassmumbai.wordpress.com/ Blog for Kashmir -http://kashmirsolidaritymumbai.wordpress.com/ Blog for KKM defence Committee- http://kabirkalamanch.wordpress.com https://twitter.com/#!/Kracktivist https://www.facebook.com/kamayani *I carry a torch in one hand And a bucket of water in the other: With these things I am going to set fire to Heaven And put out the flames of Hell So that voyagers to God can rip the veils And see the real goal.......
