Undoubtedly there have been serious war crimes and crimes against
humanity against the Tamils in Sri Lanka which require iinvestigation ;
however supporting a US sponsored resolution is not the answer as the United
States along with NATO powers and its allies from region to region has
overrun several countries committing genocide , war crimes and crimes against
humanity and has used all UN organizations in a manner which is highly
partisam in furtherance of its strategic objectives of invading and occupying
countries in what are known as resource wars .
Only a government or an organization not complicit in similar crimes should
initiate the resolution requiring Sri Lanka to co-operate in an international
investigation into the charge of genocide , war crimes and crimes against
humanity and into the discriminatory treatment and denial of civic rights
to the Tamil minority in Sri Lanka by an impartial and objective International
Committee .
It is time that citizens in South Asia made their governments responsible for
grave violation of human rights , however it must be done on the initiative of
citizens committees and not by those governments who are themselves involved
in conduct which is questionable, as a part of their own strategies to control
societies and peoples .
The Shahbagh movement of Bangladesh is an example to countries of South
Asia , that there will be zero tolerance for crimes of collective murder
against citizens or for torture and discriminatory treatment on the ground of
religion , race , caste , ethinicity of political belief and that people must
revolt when such barbaric crimes are committed as there is no impunity or time
limitation in respect of prosecution for such crimes .
The students of Tamil Nadu are rightly agitated as the government of Sri
Lanka 's track record against the Tamil people is a record of heinous crimes
and discriminatory treatment in furtherance of the divide and rule policy ,
apart from being racist in policies .

As more facts tumble out of Sri Lanka, it is increasingly clear to the
whole world that a genocide took place in Sri Lanka during 2008-2009. The
latest expose about what cannot but be construed as a cold blooded murder of a
twelve year old child has added to the heart rending evidence on this issue.
Indian government's silence in the face of this mounting evidence is
disappointing. In fact, Sri Lanka appears to be expecting that India will help
them escape International scrutiny when they face the world's opposition at the
UN Human Rights Council at Geneva on March 21st. It is sad and ironic that the
biggest and the most stable democracy in the region has of late shown little
commitment to democracy and human rights in its neighbourhood. It is shocking
that parties that did not use their political clout to save the Sri Lankan
Tamils when it mattered most are now shedding crocodile tears on this issue.
Aam Aadmi Party believes that protection of civil and human rights of Sri
Lankan minority is not just a concern for Sri Lankan Tamils, or for that matter
for Tamils all over the world. Such grave violations of human rights must
concern every human being, including every Indian. We join the Tamil Nadu
students in demanding that an independent and credible international human
rights inquiry should be carried out on what happened to Tamils in Sri Lanka in
2009 and this should be categorized as genocide. We call upon the Government of
India to support a resolution censuring Sri Lanka at the UNHRC meeting at
Geneva. The resolution to the Sri Lankan situation must take into account and
respect the political will of the Tamil minority.
Aam Aadmi Party calls upon all democratic Indians to join the Tamils in Sri
Lanka, India and all over the world in condemning this genocide. It calls upon
political parties to give up their indifference or double standards and join
the people in voicing this matter in the global arena. It also calls upon the
citizens of Tamil Nadu to exercise restrain and not allow any harm to innocent
citizens of Sri Lanka in India.
