Dear friends, Am sharing a small piece in EPW on an investigation into the burning down of an entire dalit pada in Bolangir district in Odisha. http://www.epw.in/commentary/price-dalit-assertion.html Please read and feel free to connect/respond in any way. Students groups in Delhi have provided a lot of support to the survivors. The litigation process will be slow but almost the entire community has its hopes fixed there. The SC Commission had come up with an accurate report and even named the two main accused. The administration is responding with the houses getting rebuilt etc but it will take a long time for the scars to heal and people to resume their lives. Since this incident, there have been many other incidents in the area. Hard to say whether it was inevitable but certainly very scary.
