The range of support is overwhelming - aur yeh to hona hi thaa! Bas do
baatein...

Seminars/mtgs need to also focus on two things central to the issues around
Binayak's arrest:
Opposing the Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act that Binayak is avowedly
against and the absolute right and the dire need to visit political prisoners
who are filling the jails in increasing numbers without being branded to be
Naxalites. Opposing UAPA and all draconian laws designed to quell dissent need
to be made more popular. Binayak's visits to such prisoners is
significant...hai na?
It is the quashing of resistance and punishing those who stand up for the
poorest is what the Chhattisgarh state and other states are upto. Bringing this
into our campaigns will radicalise the content of the campaigns and draw new
people in more determining ways. Otherwise, sedition is what we engage in, in
any case. Even these events questioning the sentence itself is seditious.

In solidarity,
Ranjana

NATIONAL CALL

30th January : Martyrs Day :

Protest Day againt Binayak Sen's incarceration and the law on sedition

Hum Sab Binayak Sen, Hum Sab Jail Jayenge,
Agar Sach Bolna Rajdroh hai, toh hum Sab Rajdrohi hai"

We all are Binayak Sen, We all will go to Jail

IF speaking the truth is seditious then we all have committed the
crime of sedition

Translation in English and local languages

Nationwide call demanding the Release of Binayak Sen Now and the
repeal of the IPC sec 124 (A) "sedition" and other security sections
from the IPC along with the anti-democratic laws like the UAPA, CSPSA,
AFSPA.

The call should be jointly given and endorsed by various Dalit, Women,
Tribal, Workers, Religious Minorities, Farmer, Student, Trade Unions,
Gandhian, left groups, Writers organisations, Sexual Minorities,
Academics, Journalists ad others.

On the 30th we can have Public Meetings, Rallies and finish it by a
JAIL BHARO act. The slogan being

Hum Sab Binayak Sen, Hum Sab Jail Jayenge,
Agar Sach Bolna Rajdroh hai, toh hum Sab Rajdrohi hai"

2. Organising Seminars on Sedition and Judicial accountability in all
cities between now and before the 30th of January. In Delhi it could
be organised around the 15th of January, 2011. The outcome of this
meeting can be the forming, in every city of a broad based committee
demanding the repeal of the section on sedition.

Using this case as a peg Seminars and Meetings should focus on

1. Use of the sedition law in Binayak's case
2. Other recent cases national and local
3. Examining historically the law on sedition and Gandhi a victim of
this section with his views needs to be shared and discussed.
4. Planning campaign activities, Planning steps will include putting
pressure on Political parties, MLAs, MPs as well ensuring that there
is a media campaign on this locally.

A central committee to coordinate the demand for repealing the section
on sedition will be constituted who will put together materials and
draft memoranda to be sent to groups. We will try sending materials
for this campaign.
