When the Vajpayee Govt was in power, RSS outfits would proclaim their so-called opposition to neoliberal policies. It was all about trying to keep opposition within the family. It is the same now with Digvijay Singh, Manishankar Aiyar etc taking a safe 'secular' and 'democratic' line to persuade people that the Congress is fundamentally democratic. But Digvijay's piece unwittingly reveals how 'democratic' he really is: he recommends that UPA II "learn from the Andhra Pradesh experience" of "closely targeting the Maoists leadership." That is, in essence, of targeted assassination of the Maoist leadership in fake encounters which is what the AP Govt's Greyhound squads specialised in! Amaresh Mishra may be responsible for the fairy tale of Green Hunt as as a corporate conspiracy against the Congress (!) - wonder if he (as he sends mails with news articles citing 'his role') also plays a role in recommending targeted assassination?!
