One option for helping, if you are looking for ways to help, would be to help us verify all the bug reports still awaiting verification in Jira[1]. That involves testing the reported bug against 5.0. Some of them have tests, some of them don't. For the ones that do, some of them need to be converted to use the Hibernate testing framework[2].
