FYI, I just learned that the Apache Karaf team has included Hibernate ORM and Hibernate Validator as default system features, starting with Karaf 2.4.x, 2.3.4+, and 3.0.x. I'd call that a big vote of confidence for Hibernate OSGi. So, thanks to everyone who helped make that a reality!
