I can't see how this would have worked before without the dependency on the repo. Reminder, the dependency is not present in the repo https://repository.jboss.org/nexus/content/repositories/releases/org/jboss/maven/plugins/maven-jdocbook-plugin/ To reproduce, run mvn dependency:tree under Hibernate Search's root. I guess as you said, the best approach would be to migrate to the latest version and make sure everything still works.
