Also here's a rake task that I've been running successfully in production for a long time. It's got easy backup to s3 and restore capabilities. A lot of solutions I've seen have no setup for restore so while you may have the data, you'll be in a bind should you actually need to use it. https://github.com/jpearl/heroku_backups
