A month or so ago I unplugged my keyboard on my Guix machine (bilda) and plugged it back in to a different port. This froze the machine to where I had to power-cycle it. It did not come back up: the first few times the vendor logo came up, but no access to uefi setup and no boot. After the first few times it did not come back up at all. This was a Lenovo Thinkcentre.
I put it on the cart to repair it, but during this process it fell off the cart. After I had opened it up to examine it I found that the PSU had a crack in its board. It did not interrupt any traces but I scrapped the PSU anyway, which took the rest of the computer out of service: this model Lenovo uses a strange power supply with only ten pins. I just bought another computer (another Lenovo, sadly) to replace it rather than trying to hunt down another such PSU. When I finally got another machine to test with I discovered that both SSD's in bilda were completely inert. They did not show up in lsblk nor otherwise enumerate. On testing just now one of the drives showed up in lsblk (sda, size 0) and in gnome-disks (vendor data Initio INIC-1511, size 0, no partitions. I had an old guix installer usb key lying about so that when I acquired my replacement system I installed Guix on the new machine (bildit) using a spare 256GB ssd I had here. I installed nss-certs but on booting into bildit I find that it cannot 'guix pull' because savannah.git.gnu.org certificate is 'invalid'. wget claims that certificate is 'not yet activated'. I'm writing this from yet another lenovo (dutchman) running Debian. Both certificates seem valid from dutchman. I would just start over installing guix on bildit but I cannot download the guix installer image from https://guix.gnu.org/en/download/ due to 404 error at https://mirror.ossplanet.net/gnu//gnu/guix/guix-system-install-1.5.0.x86_64-linux.iso to which the prior link redirects. I do not know how to proceed from here... I hope that the installation images become available soon. I am aware that it's possible to install guix within debian(*), and having done so to generate some sort of install image, and dd same to a stickdrive, but... this debian volume is very very small and there is not room on it for /gnu/store at <20GB free. At this point I figure to quit for the day and spend the rest of it drinking beer and punching myself in the face until I pass out. Although I am posting this to help-guix I don't expect any actual help, this is more just a cri de coeur. There are a bunch of intense wizards on this list though, so maybe somebody has a magic that can help... tomorrow.
