Hello all,

I'm a new Guix and Guix system user. I'm working my way through the
Info manuals.

When experimenting with "guix home" and "guix system", I receive the
following hint:

"hint: Consider installing the `glibc-locales' package and defining
`GUIX_LOCPATH', along these lines:

     guix install glibc-locales
     export GUIX_LOCPATH="$HOME/.guix-profile/lib/locale"

See the "Application Setup" section in the manual, for more info."

Reading that page, it says:

"When using Guix on top of GNU/Linux distribution other than Guix
System—a so-called “foreign distro”—a few additional steps are needed to
get everything in place. Here are some of them.

2.6.1 Locales
-------------

Packages installed via Guix will not use the locale data of the host
system. Instead, you must first install one of the locale packages
available with Guix and then define the ‘GUIX_LOCPATH’ environment
variable:"

Specific reference is made there to using the Guix package system on a
distribution other than Guix System, and that the host system locale
data will not be used. Given I'm using Guix System, have I done
something wrong to receive this hint? Or am I misinterpreting the Info
page?

I've checked, and glibc-locales is not installed, and GUIX_LOCPATH is
not set. I used a default install via the graphical installer.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
