The output from pciutils is secondary, but I am sorry about the experience you've had so far. As the owner of new equipment, you may find the Repology website helpful. It can help you evaluate where your equipment is supported. For example, here are the links for pciutils [1] and mesa. [2] You can see which versions are available on different distributions.
