This is what fixed it on my machine: export XDG_DATA_DIRS=/usr/share/gnome:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/ But I install with xbps (I'm on void linux) The guix gajim failed to respond to the above XDG_DATA_DIRS being set. I'm not sure what Guix specific env variable needs to be set here for gajim.
