Are you running Guix on top of another distribution? I had to add the veriable XDG_DATA_DIRS to the environment, specifically XDG_DATA_DIRS=$HOME/.guix-profile/share:/usr/share for Guix running on Debian. The variable was set automagically full Guix systems. HTH, jr
