The purpose of RPS is something different [1]. As maxim already assumed it needs be a layer on top of CADET.
What might also be noteworthy is a second reference implementation of GNS in Go.Development priorities currently lie with rewriting the transport subsystem, codifying Living Standards Documents for various components, and concrete applications like the Taler micropayment system and re:ClaimID decentralised identity directory. That's my knowledge of the situation, anyway.

You are correct. Must be implemented on top of CADET. But this does not mean there is no anonymization in GNUnet at all.The file share service is designed to provide anonymous file-sharing, and even the routing via CADET is anonymous in the sense that only the nodes doing the routing gain information about the communication peers.

Btw. the matrix channel for gnunet sucks they don't know how it works and just sent me on the mailing listSounds like a good course of action to me -- sometimes on IRC (or Matrix), the people currently logged in did not have an answer, so they redirected you to a source that might have one. Additionally, I must recommend against insulting them (‘matrix channel suck, they don't know’), it makes people disinclined to help you further.
In fact, my intention was to help quickly despite the fact that I did not have time at that moment. The Matrix channel is not administered by the GNUnet project, we cannot give any indication of the official communication channel in the channel description. There happen to be people in the Matrix channel who can help. However, since they may not have the time for detailed help, or may not be familiar with a specific part of GNUnet, the best place to start is the mailing list. Also, please remember that GNUnet is a large project with limited resources, and that help in improving the documentation is always welcome.
