Thanks for the reply, Sigurd.

(1) You say it is a bug.  What bug number is it, please?  (Then I can monitor 
it.)

(2) For an existing service (ours is a mix of cfengine-community 3.1.4 and 
3.3.4) , what is the likely impact?  We haven't seen anything yet, but should 
we be worried?  Could it change the intended behaviour of configuration 
promises (which would be bad)?  If so, might there be any interim workarounds 
or protective measures we could take in our config files to try to avoid the 
underlying C code getting near this problem area?

(3)  For my own curiosity, what does cf-monitord actually do?  (Examples?  The 
manual isn't clear.)  In our own config, I am not aware that we have set any 
monitor stuff at all, so I guess we're running a default configuration in that 
regard.
