As far as I remember, a UNIX username *must* start with an alphabetic character, so names starting with a number are illegal. At least, it was like that in the past. While Linux (and other systems) may have been or become more permissive, other systems may still be strict regarding that rule, so you may want to avoid number-starting usernames for portability.
