At JOB^1 I wrote a Perl script to look up company inventory metadata and
feed it to cfengine through the module interface.  The script was more
than just a cfengine module, though: it could run standalone, could be
used for shell loops and queries, and could produce Puppet-compatible
YAML (useful while we migrated out of Puppet) and Javascript-friendly
JSON as well.
