Hi, I am trying to implement a cfengine3 single server, single client setup. The server I.P Address being 10.130.221.138 and the client I.P Address being 10.130.221.84
On the server, I have created a sample promise file filecreate.cf to create a file in /tmp with 622 permissions. The promise works when I run the cf-promises -f filecreate.cf and cf-agent -f filecreate.cf commands manually on the server and a file with 622 permissions is created in the /tmp directory on the cfengine3 server. The promise filecreate.cf exists in /etc/cfengine 3 on my ubuntu oneric server and I have manually copied it to the /var/lib/cfengine3/inputs and also the /var/lib/cfengine3/masterfiles on the server so that the files in the masterfiles directory can replicate to the client machines. As the first step to replicate the promise from the server to the clients, I would like to apply this promise filecreate.cf to _all_the_clients_ in my network. Now I have brought up a single client with I.P Address 10.130.221.84 and running the cf-runagent on the client polls the server but no promises are replicated to the client from the server. I would like to know how to replicate and apply a promise to _all_clients_ in the network from a single policy server and also how to classify various clients into groups and to apply policies selectively to the client groups. I have gone through all the pdf documentation available in http://www.cfengine3/manuals but could not find a section relevant to my requirement. Any assistance here on this list or even pointer to the relevant sections in the documentation that would help me to proceed further would be highly appreciated.
