I tend to steer clear of these respawning agents. I think they are major trouble waiting to happen and I've seen some bad accidents. Cfengine was not really designed to be used with such agents. The recommended approach is to use cf-execd and or cron to run cf-agent to check whether cf-serverd is running. Perhaps others will say something different.
