Good catch, but still no dice. Apparently I was working with an older version of the standard library, so that's one problem solved, but it didn't change the behavior. I retested with yum and yum_rpm as the package method. Did notice something else that disturbed me though, the package I'm testing with does not install correctly due to unresolved dependencies, but as far as cfengine is concerned the promise is being successfully repaired.
