Forum: Cfengine Help Subject: Are case-insensitive classes possible? Author: babudro Link to topic: https://cfengine.com/forum/read.php?3,19067,19067#msg-19067
Hey, fellow Cfengineers, I read in the manual, "Cfengine is case-sensitive (in all things)..." and am trying to find a way around this for classes. I ran across a machine that someone happened to name with all-caps. One machine I can rename by hand, but I can't check a thousand servers by hand, and I obviously need a way to maintain a consistent rule. Someone who likes upper-case (or a mix of the two -- MyHost.MyDomain.COM) could put a lot of bumps in my otherwise smooth road to convergence with Cfengine. Hmmm... What are people's thoughts on this? Is there a tr/// equivalent for Cfengine? Would you make an execresult call to sed on /etc/hosts to be sure everything's lower-case and then somehow transform the host's name and feed it back to the "hostname" command in lower-case? _______________________________________________ Help-cfengine mailing list [email protected] https://cfengine.org/mailman/listinfo/help-cfengine
