Accually this is solved by downgrading to cfengine-community 3.0.4p2. I couldn't find anything useful in the output or in the logfiles. It seems like 3.0.5p1 chokes after a while. I can see < 64 established connections and around the same in SYN_RECV state. I have no clue how to debug this issue.
