I think the purge setting is a mistake. It's pretty dangerous to set purge => true. About the binaries. I understand it as an effort to bootstrap Cfengine more easily - so there is less setup my the user., but I could be wrong. Anyway, I think the binaries should be installed in the proper location /usr/local or /usr.
