We are in the process of migrating from cf2 to cf3 and were disappointed to learn that syslog support is now absent from v3 in the community edition: root:/var/cfengine/inputs# ../bin/cf-agent -v | grep -i log cf3 Remote logging requires version Nova or above cf3 Remote logging requires version Nova or above This has been a standard Unix interface since BSD 4.2, circa 1983, and was an important feature for our community installation of v.2. I suspect this is true of others within the community. We've considered workarounds, all of which are inelegant solutions. Receiving feedback from Cfengine by way of reports instead of logging requires adding in reporting statements for all of our promises and didn't give us the output we're looking for. Please consider making this available in the v.3 community edition. I encourage any community members interested in syslog support to chime in.
