Interesting Mark, I'd be interested to see your paper. I hope your experience has been a good one. Are you going to submit it to USENIX LISA?
The price of commercial licenses will be handled offline by one of the business folks at Cfengine - I have BCCed them on this message. The road map is roughly as follows (features aren't announced until release): - Releases of community edition every 3 months - Releases of Nova every 6 months, 1.1 is being finalised now! (attached sneak preview of up coming release semantic knowledge map front page, -- where all the reports are kept). This is a true cross-platform version with native Windows support and lots of goodies for solving enterprise kinds of problems. - First beta of Cfengine Constellation is planned for the end of this year - which will provide the first custom-queriable version of the semantic "CMDB" in Cfengine Nova, as well as an authoring front end and GUI/wizard for setting up configurations. This continues our commitment to provide business value in the commercial products. Cfengine Constellation is about "scalability" of information in large organizations. There are plenty more surprises coming up too which I'm not going to reveal yet.
