Hi List

As a newbie just starting to understand CFEngine 3, I'd like to offer a
couple of feedback points on the documentation, based on my progress to
date.

The "Getting Started" page offers little in the way of useful information
for a beginner. Personally, I'm not interested in knowing that
Configuration Management (CM) is the best thing since sliced bread, why I
should be using CM and how the phases of a best practice CM approach
interelate with each other. What I am interested in, as someone getting
started, is gaining a high-level appreciation for how CFEngine 3 functions
in my server room; which components are involved in a small-scale
installation and how components work in concert to achieve "The Promised
State". A few simple diagrams that depict the flow of configuration data
and the processes that execute across host boundaries during a refresh
cycle would go a long way to helping a simpleton like myself.

Now that I am familiar with the layout of the documentation pools a little
better (reference manual, tutorial, solutions guide, standard library
etc), it's not so much of an issue, but the availability of the CFEngine
tutorial doc needs to be better advertised. To that end, can the link to:

   http://www.cfengine.org/manuals/cf3-tutorial.pdf

be made a little more obvious on the documentation page. It was only as a
result of a mouse-over that I realised this was an independent tutorial
document. This PDF was the single most helpful document for me as I was
getting to grips with CFEngine 3 and in my mind, belongs on the "Getting
Started" page. After experiencing a few brain-melts trying to digest the
reference manual (any BNF and I would have fallen off my chair), I made a
point to print out the tutorial PDF and read it several times. Having done
that I felt far more confident that I was starting on the right foot.

That aside, I'm making good progress :)

Thank you

Steve
