Weighing in that I think it’s an important message to be sent. Since AJL consists of and represents not just libraries but also archives, may I suggest any statement also include the summary dismissal of Dr. Colleen Shogan, Archivist of the United States, back in February. It’s conceivable, I suppose, that Acting Archivist Marco Rubio may be doing a bang-up job. But as of today, the mission-critical senior positions of Deputy Archivist and Chief of Staff remain vacant at NARA. The Society of American Archivists issued a statement about this (actually the first of five on actions impacting our profession since then), if that language will be helpful.
