Atla is a religiously inclusive professional organization that fosters the study of theology and religion by enhancing the development of theological and religious studies libraries and librarianship. Atla members include participants and practitioners of many religious traditions as well as those who don?t observe any religion but are interested in the study of religion and theology. The Atla Diversity Scholarship Atla will provide one scholarship in the amount of $4,000 USD to a student from an underrepresented community enrolled in an ALA-accredited master?s program in library and information science. The awardee will be encouraged to participate in the Atla Annual Conference by presenting on a particular topic with the support of the members of the sponsoring Atla Committee for DEI. The awardee can decide on the type, topic, and modality of the presentation and the Committee will be available for consulting during the Call for Proposals. The awardee will be eligible to receive a travel grant of $750 USD as well as complimentary conference registration to offset attendance cost. Atla members who attend the Annual Conference benefit from networking and service opportunities, space to present research and knowledge, publish in the conference proceedings, and participate in workshops designed to expand members? scope and skills. By December 31 of the calendar year in which the scholarship is awarded, the recipient must author an article for the Atla Blog on a diversity topic of interest to them that relates to the study and/or profession of librarianship. Applicants who are not selected for the DEI award are encouraged to apply for an Atla attendance grant.
