Update local sandbox rather. SVN will be updated when you 
issue 'svn commit'.

Please also make sure to add SVN "props" as 
listed in the HOWTO file. See:
  svn propset svn:keywords "Author Date Id Revision" "filename"
  svn propset svn:eol-style native "filename"

Maybe only a typo, but it should be 'svn'.

Unfortunately I can't help you with GUI based SVN solution, 
since I never used any. Hopefully someone else can.
