If you merge past messages with new ones without any indication or date to signal it, it's rather hard to find out the essence of such message. If possible try to use regular forwarding and quoting methods, since it's most of the time crucial to see _who_ and _when_ wrote _what_ text which is now included in a message. Especially in rather long threads and quotes from months/years ago.
