Follow is Copied from internet a better description of idea: In A method of transferring data from a server to a remote client over a communications link, a request for specific data is sent from the remote client to the server accompanied by a compression request for transmission of the data at a specified compression ratio. Upon receipt of this request, the server retrieves the specific data from a data source, such as a web server or ftp server. An agent at the remote server intercept the retrieved data and compresses at least part of the retrieved data prior to transmission. After transmission to the remote client in compressed form over the communications link in accordance with the compression request, the data is decompressed and restored to an uncompressed intelligible form. http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/en/wo.jsp?wo=2002063882
GNet Server - Network compression client/server software. Compresses data over slow networks to save on the cost of bandwidth. is developed for Unix and Windows platforms http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnunetpress/ 2009/9/21 Massimo Belgrano <mbelgr...@deltain.it> > Speed on web can be better compressing data sent from client to server? > > 2009/9/21 Pritpal Bedi <bediprit...@hotmail.com> > > >> Hello Everybody >> >> Here is what I did to test my flagship application "Vouch" >> under HBNETIO protocol concurrently with same system where >> data resides, on LAN connected terminals with/without NETIO, >> on real-time WEB-IP, and everything worked extremely fine. >> The only issue worth reporting is the speed on WEB-IP >> whic was 8 times slower than stand-alone and about >> 5 times slower than LAN. >> >> ULTIMATELY - results were so satisfying that my clients >> were noticeably impressed.
